A chat with sensational sustainable shoe brand Rothy’s

Rothy’s shoes made from recycled bottles are a global hit. Co-founder Stephen Hawthornthwaite gives us the scoop. Back in 2012, during the rise of the yoga pants trend, San Francisco-based friends Stephen Hawthornthwaite and Roth Martin noticed that there was no shoe to go with the look — a problem their startup Rothy’s set out to solve.   Their athleisure footwear became an overnight sensation, with fashion icons like Meghan Markle and Mandy Moore spotted in Rothy’s kicks.
