Biography

Laurence is the founder and CEO of Pavegen, a clean-tech company that has pioneered a flooring technology, generating electricity from the kinetic energy of footsteps. Having graduated with a 1st class honours in Industrial Design and Technology from Loughborough University, Laurence launched the business and filed the first patents with £200, in 2009.

Since inception, Pavegen have taken the technology to production and delivered commercial projects for some of the biggest global brands, such as: Google, Coca Cola, Cisco, Heathrow Airport, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Diageo, Merecedes, Ford Motor Company, London 2012 Olympics, and Europe’s largest shopping centre, Westfield.

Consequently, Laurence is a thought leader and speaker at various technology and entrepreneurship events worldwide; his TEDxBerlin talk was featured amongst TED’s top talks on envisioning the cities of the future and changing attitudes to fossil fuels. Additionally, Laurence was the youngest CEO of a delegation of leading British companies, joining the Prime Minister, David Cameron, on a state visit to China.
